Spring Equinox

Last autumn equinox I photographed Bratton Seymour church near Castle Cary. Today on the 19th March 2016 I returned to recreate the same image on the spring equinox (one day early). I choose St Nicholas Church in Bratton Seymour as it is a beautiful church on a hill with wide views to the east facing the morning sun.

During an equinox the sun rises due east so the shadows should have run parallel to the front of the church. However, the sun was covered in cloud. The dawn providing a faint orange glow. The spring flowers made up for the lack of sun.
