Barton St David

I recently passed by Barton St. David and saw the pink bales in the fields.  It a small village on my regular cycle route home from work across Somerset.

Today I returned to photographs some more bales on the other side of the river.  But the light was poor and the view towards Glastonbury Tor was dull and flat.  So I walked to Tootle Bridge and found a group of heifers looking back at me across the River Brue.

Tootle bridge across the Brue marks the boundary between the parishes of Barton St David and Baltonsborough.  It is a grade 2 listed building on a kink in the road as the river turns north.  Either side of the bridge are red rumble strips painted on the road to alert drivers to the narrow bridge.  Cycling over these can shake your teeth loose.

And Finally…

I cannot resist a nice pair of rustic doors.
