Discovery Trail
Today I found autumn on the Discovery Trail at Great Breach Wood in Somerset. The trail covers parts of this Somerset Wildlife Trust. It is well marked with posts providing details of nature and local history.
I parked at the Combe Hill car park and walked along the Polden Way to the start of the trail next to the sign for New Hill and Tannager.
The trail is well sign posted and easy to follow.
Red admirals like it high up in the trees.
Autumn is on its way with many beech and oak leaves turning gold.
A quick view of a deer as it runs across the trail.
More Red admirals.
Look out for those little details on the trail.
Another Red admiral sitting in a small pool of sun light on the leaf litter at the side of the trail.
And Finally…
A last look at the view before returning to the car park.
I came across the Discovery Trail this morning while walking the dog. We saw a deer with young. I am definitely going back to explore some more. it was beautiful. Thank you.
I’m really pleased you enjoyed your walk, and a bit jealous that you got to see a deer with its young.
