Lynchcombe Steps
A break from the starlings this morning for a walk around Lynchcombe. I am a volunteer warden for this Somerset Wildlife Trust nature reserve on the Mendip Hills. I wanted to stroll around checking on the state of the reserve for anything that needed to be notified to the trusts staff.
It was a beautiful winter morning with clear skies and frost. At the Deerleap car park were fire jugglers – not the first thing I expected that early in the morning.
Frost was lying on the grass in the shade of trees and rocks.
A favourite view of at the top of Lynchcombe looking towards the sunrise.
The low sun creates shadows among the tuffs of grass.
Lower down in the reserve a lot of work has been carried out to clear the grassland.
The old mans beard in front of a white Somerset Levels. The levels were covered in a white frost.
Frost lingered in the combe. A layer of blue smoke was sliding down the combe from the fire jugglers (assuming there is not a dragon living in the sink hole at the top of the combe).
And Finally
A stop off at deerleap to look at the levels in frost.
