Lynchcombe Steps

I’m a volunteer warden for the Lynchcombe nature reserve owned by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. This year we have had a very mild winter in Somerset. Lynchcombe is a wonderful location so I headed up into the Mendip Hills in search of some rare white stuff.

Only in the shade of the steep sides of the combe could I find anything that looked like winter.

This small patch of frost only a few metres across was an opportunity to get my macro lens out and capture the frost crystals on the dried bracken fronds.
