Early Stars
The early stars of spring are the flowers of Wood Anemones in the woods of Somerset. The flowers form carpets of stars across the woodland floor.
Wood Anemones
Wood Anemones (Anemone nemorosa) shy away from the weather. To protect their pollen they drop they heads and close-up their petals in bad weather. After a day of rain I had to look around to find open flowers.
As Evening Draws In
It still early in the year and as the sun drops it creates pools of golden light across the wood. The area the sun reaches gets smaller and smaller.
A few flowers remain open soaking up the last rays of light.
