Lynchcombe Steps
Berries, mists and sunsets. Autumn can be a special time at the Lynchcombe nature reserve.
This Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve sits on the sunny south facing slopes of the Mendip Hills. In autumn berries appear across its steep grasslands, woods and scrub.

Comma butterflies have had a spectacular year with huge numbers being recorded. This one resting on blackberries creates a picture of autumn.

Autumn is a brief and varied season squeezed in between summer and winter. Sometimes the days offer a reminder of summer with beautiful blue skies. Some mornings the mist fills the views across the levels, then in the evening the sunset fills the sky.
