Kings Alfreds Tower

Mistakenly, I thought Kings Alfred’s Tower was in Wiltshire.  I was so wrong, its just inside Somerset.  To celebrate its new found status I decided to re-visit the tower today.

Earlier I had watched the tower during sunrise from Glastonbury Tor.

King Alfred’s Tower

Last year I photographed the tower from Bruton.  Taken slightly later in the year there was a classic Somerset mist sitting in the valleys.

South Brewham

I returned this year to this fantastic old oak at South Brewham.  If you get down to ground level you can see King Alfred’s Tower under its branches.

The Tower

Up the hill from Brewham and Hardway to the tower, a long clearing through the wood leads you to the tower.  Last year I took this picture when autumn was well underway.

Today I had to find a quiet corner in the wood where autumn was making a head start.
