Dawn Before the Storm

Dawn on the day storm Ophelia was due to arrive.  I made the strange decision to head to the top of the highest peak in the area, Glastonbury Tor.

In the distance a small patch of red sky above where the sun will appear.

Delayed Dawn

As is common at the top of the Tor there were people doing yoga.  Today they had to practice inside the shelter of the tower.  The wind was so strong you could stay outside for long.  No way I could set the camera up on a tripod.  A group of us in this tiny place waiting for sunrise.

We waited, but dawn came and went with no sign of the sun.  Then, as I started to descend down the hill the sun finally appeared above a bank of cloud.  This beautiful orange dawn was a great surprise.

Some blogs show pictures of eagles flying passed majestic mountain peaks.  In Somerset, we have crows flying around the Tor.
