Bishops Moat
The moat around the Bishop’s Palace in Wells provides the perfect reflection of autumn.
The Moat
On a recent walk I was lucky to be passing the moat when the wind had dropped. The reds and yellows reflected in the water and the shadows of the trees on the palace walls created by the low sun provided a picture of autumn.
The Birds
The moat is a great place for children to feed the birds. The seagulls, pigeons, ducks and swans love small bits of bread.
This picture I took back in 2005 shows the swans ringing the bell to be feed. I’m not sure if they still do this.
The Leaves
Around the moat horse chestnut leaves glow in the autumn sun.
These are my favourite autumn leaves because they are often the first to turn.
