Starling Trail
My third evening at the starling roost at RSPB Ham Wall on the Somerset Levels. Another beautiful evening – great skies and thousands of birds.
A Swan Escapes
This evening the birds were roosting deeper into the Loxtons Marsh. Perhaps not so good for those watching from the main reserve track. Many of the starlings were roosting near a patch of open water. So there were plenty of opportunities to take photographs reflecting the wonderful sky.
As soon as the birds arrived this swan made a quick escape.
Starlings in Every Direction
Birds appeared from every direction. A frantic, chaotic and noisey scene filling the sky over Loxtons Marsh.
More and more arrived.
Swooping in low overhead.
The Roost
Eventually the birds dropped into the reedbed to roost.
And Finally…
A red sunset over Waltons Heath to end a great evening.
