Beacon Hill Snow
Winter in the Wood
Its Christmas time and the edge of the wood on top of Beacon Hill hides its secret winter wonderland.
In the centre of the wood is an area of mature beech trees.
I arrived at the woods before dawn and with a grey sky it was too dark to take pictures. Gradually, the clouds thinned revealing patches of pale blue sky.
A standing stone, can be found in the centre of a circular earth bank. It marks the highest point of the hill and is of course hundreds of years old.
And Finally…
The surrounding countryside is full of archeological interest covered in ancient barrows.
