Milborne Port
It is impossible to drive passed a sign for an 11th century church. So a few days ago (when the sun was out) I stopped to have a nose around.
Church of St John the Evangelist
Milbourne Port is just inside Somerset near the Dorset border.
This view of the village in the middle of rolling countryside is from a view point on one of my running routes. I regularly cycle through its tiny neighbour of Milborne Wick. So a this beautiful winter day it was time to checkout the bigger village.
The highlight of the village is the church which has been around since around 950.
The churchyard is very well maintained. Strangely, I discovered the shadow of a man in a hat in the middle of the churchyard.
And Finally…
The lamps in the churchyard are quite something.
