Stowell
Taken from the bench at the view spot on the hill over looking the small village of Stowell in South Somerset. Recently, the hedge has been cut back opening up this view.
Stowell
Its evening with the promise of a good sunset over the village of Stowell. To my amazement, while I was getting my camera ready, a train went by in the middle distance. Where I live in Somerset we do not have any railway lines so this was quite exciting. Unfortunately I never got a second chance. Clearly they do not get many trains here either.
On the other side of the valley from Windmill and Stowell Hills (one is the name of the hill the other is the name of the road) is Poyntington Hill. The border between the counties of Somerset and Dorset run along its ridge.
The village church of St Mary Magdalene has a wonderful farm setting. The sheep keep watch and ensure you get permission from the farmer before taking your pictures.
The church is part of a benefice of five village churches close to Milborne Port. It is joined with the parish of Charlton Horethorne and apparently is still open for baptisms, weddings and funerals.
The sky goes pink above the church and Stowell Farm.
And Finally…
A glorious pink and orange sky as the village settles down for the night.
