Wedmore Storm
Ashton windmill at Chapel Allerton sits on the top of the Isle of Wedmore between the flat moors and levels of the rivers Axe and Brue.
Axe Valley
I drove to Wedmore this morning to capture the windmill at sunrise. But with the clouds of a hail storm building I had a change in plan. On the edge of Wedmore on the Cheddar Road is a view spot with long view across the Axe Valley towards Wells.
I decided to wait here and watch the storm move down the valley just as the sun was coming up.
Seemingly, a winter’s mix of hail, rain and snow was falling from the clouds.
As the sun rose, below the horizon, the colours become brighter.
Soon there was almost no gap in the sky. The clouds would eventually fill the sky before I got to see the sun.
