Wells Snowdrops
As we head towards the end of the snowdrop season I headed north to Wells hoping I could find some fresh flowers.
Bishops Palace
This weekend the Bishop’s Palace held a snowdrop celebration. So with snowdrops guaranteed this was the only place to go. Especially, as I missed out on the snowdrop festival at Shepton Mallet last week.
Wells was taking a risk holding a celebration this late in the season but I need not have worried. While some were beginning to turn they were still beautiful.
This is the classic picture taken by every visitor to the palace. So I had to give it a go. A breeze keep the water moving so I had to wait, and wait, and wait some more to get it this still.
Snowdrop Celebration
The flowers in the arboretum were the best.
A sea of snowdrops and a stunning winter sun.
Amazingly many flowers were still in bud.
Many were simply stunning in this light.
The crocus flowers provided a soft pink backdrop.
The flowers seem to be spreading out across the lawns. These will need to take care and keep their heads down when the crowds arrive.
Daffodils
The daffodils provided proof that we are definitely moving into spring.
And Finally…
Primroses appearing as spring arrives.
