Starling Trail
An explosion of starlings escape their overnight roost from the Loxtons Marsh on the RSPB Ham Wall nature reserve.
In near complete darkness the birds begin to move around the reeds . There was only just enough light to take pictures. Luckily the birds had roosted only 20 metres from the path.
After some distant groups had lifted and flown away the birds near the path finally exploded into the sky. The birds took a deep breath, then after a brief silence the birds lifted in to the air and over our heads.
Seconds later it was all quite in the marsh. Time for breakfast!
