Gorse Plantation
The Gorse Plantation is a small patch of private woodland on Priors Hill above Wells in Somerset. This time of year it has a carpet of bluebells
A dry-stone wall runs alongside the wood. The wall has seen better days, but I was happy to see walls nearby being repaired.
The UK met office said that this morning was going to be sunny. I was up at 6am hoping to catch the sunrise shining through the wood. Instead Wells was under a blanket of cloud – the met office forecasts have been very poor recently.
Needing shutters speeds in excess of one second to get enough light into the camera I was grateful for the lack of wind. Unfortunately, this poor light created a pretty flat landscape.
This is a private woodland and I do not know the farmer. So I could only take pictures from the bridleway that runs alongside the wood. For a wood this beautiful that is all the access you need.
