Long Drove

I’m getting a bit behind is posting – the pressure of work and DIY. A few days ago I was looking at my Lightrac app to find a destination for dawn the next day. I noticed that Long Drove near Glastonbury lined up nicely with the direction of the sunrise. So I got up early and headed off to catch the dawn.

Long drove is dead straight for a couple of miles. For many years I have cycled up and down this road with my family on the weekend. It has recently been re-surfaced, but previously it was very cracked. It was a bit like cycling along a railway line over all the sleepers.

The mist rises up from the ditches on each side of the drove.

I took a stool in the car to stand on whilst I took the pictures.  My extra height meant I could see water in the ditches on both sides of the road at the same time.

Imagine my surprise when another photographer turned up.  This is rare so we had a good chat and helped each other out.  In these days when the temperature is around zero Celius it is easy to forget that filters and lens can mist up.

And finally…

The corner of the field on the way back to my car before continuing my journey to work.
